So you aim to eat a healthy breakfast. That should stop the pounds from creeping up. Here’s where you’re wrong: Even if you try to stay on track with a healthy eating plan, you’re most probably falling for what I like to call “fit slips.” These breakfast foods are supposedly healthy and good for you. The truth — they are actually worse for you than the obvious unhealthy option. Even a few “fit slips” at breakfast over the course of a week could not only be preventing you from losing weight, but may even be helping you put on a lot. Make these easy swaps to save loads of calories and fat: Bran muffins: Many people assume they’re making a smart choice when they choose the bran muffin over the donut in dining halls or at the cart on the street. You think: bran = fiber = healthy Truth: Just a dense, not to mention smaller, piece of cake. The average muffin packs a whopping 500 calories (even for small varieties). Add bran and the fat content leaps to 20-30+ grams. Fat equivalent: 2 Klondike Heath ice cream bars SWAP: glazed donut – nothing can curb the carb fix in the AM. What I used… About 1 cup of ice maybe a bit more 1 serving of blueberry yogurt About 6-8 oz of V8 Juice. (I used the yogurt cup to measure the juice) Very quick and easy and not to mention healthy.
